Concept: Tom Dixon and FRONT have created an incredibly beautiful portable lamp, in a completely unique design. The lamp is made using a special metallising technology that makes the appearance completely unique. The first of its kind. the lamp is transparent when its on, and you can see the exciting play of colours. When the lamp is switched off, it issues a mirror-like look. The Melt lamp has a nice organic and natural expression. The transportable lamp was designed in collaboration between Tom Dixon and the Swedish design collective FRONT. The ideas behind the design are a mixture of creating the expression of three remarkable things such as melted glass, a melting glacier and the expression from when you have taken a picture with flash. The wireless design makes it easy to bring the light to any corner of your home and move it from room to room.
