Lorenz+Kaz

The Milanese design Studio lorenz+kaz, was founded in 2001 by Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz, both German designers living and working in Italy since the mid-Nineties. What characterises their creativity is their sustained quest for perfection and a hybrid “nordic- Italian” imprint of their designs; aware of its origins and always willing to transform and evolve into something new and innovative. The international multidisciplinary team is working in the fields of furniture design, industrial design, exhibition and interior design, brand installations and graphic design with a special focus on brand and art direction.

Renowned firms and brands like De Padova, Alcantara, Zeitraum, DuPont™ Corian®, General Motors, Kuka, Colé, Rossin, BSH Siemens Household Goods, Karl Küfner, Masiero, Saturn Bath, Officina Nicolazzi and BKW Engineering have all confided in the skills and creativity of lorenz+kaz. Furthermore, the designers’ projects are part of the collections of companies like Durasein, Bedont, OmniDecor®, Antonio Lupi, Anesis and Shibui.
Beyond these prestigious collaborations, Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz are designing, producing and commercialising their own lorenz+kaz branded collection.

Their work received several international awards including the Red Dot Best of Best Design Award Germany, Archiproducts award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award USA, German Design Award Special Mention. In 2019 the German television ZDF/3Sat produced a film documentary about their studio and life in Milan. Furthermore, their work is part of prestigious international exhibitions.
