Adagio is an upholstered fabric bench.‎ In the world of music, the term adagio dictates that a piece should be played at a slow and leisurely pace.‎ And it is this sense of serenity that inspired the designers at NOTE to create a series of benches and poufs that exude a relaxed appearance and sense of fluidity.‎ Quality handcraftsmanship, too, calls for calm and deliberation.‎ Otherwise it simply would not be possible to bring Adagio's design details to life with such unerring precision.‎ Seemingly lapping gently over the body in one continuous line, the character of this compact bench is defined by its graphic curves.‎ The defining wavelike pattern is quilted into the fabric of the upholstery through a soft layer of foam – creating the gentle camber that lends the benches a distinctly sculptural aesthetic.‎ The pattern repeats without interruption over the entire upholstered surface without dividing seams.‎ Available in two different lengths, the straight variant is equally at home positioned at the foot of a bed, or when used as seating in foyers or closet spaces.‎ Not only highly attractive, the large-format curved version also establishes a locus of communication, making it wonderfully suited as a place for dialogue.‎ All elements can be combined at will and joined together by means of element connectors.‎ Especially in contract settings, this gives rise to highly compelling arrangements, from round seating islands to room-length benches.‎ Depending on the choice of fabric, the benches look sporty or elegant, flamboyant or understated – enriching any room with their uncomplicated yet unconventional aesthetic.‎ They offer a high level of comfort, which Wittmann adeptly brings to even the simplest form with a characteristically sure hand.‎ The high-quality pocket spring core that is so typical of Wittmann also comes into play for Adagio.‎ Combined with a carefully composed cold foam structure, it ensures matchless seating quality.‎

Effortless – the first word that the NOTE designers think of to describe their collaboration with Wittmann.‎ It references both the quality of craftsmanship and the way that design ideas take shape at the company’s workshops.‎ In the case of Adagio, the designers' vision was to make the graphic sweeping lines that give the models in the series their personality look as effortless as an artist's brushstrokes.‎ Available in three sizes, the poufs in the Adagio series are the perfect embodiment of this effortlessness.‎ The organic, flowing design infuses the pieces with a serene yet animate appearance – something that was transferred to the upholstered furniture by Wittmann with such perfection that there can be no doubt as to the intended ease and lightness.‎ Still, the self-assurance with which the lines sweep across the furniture is anything but easy to achieve: the leather finish – only available for the poufs in the Adagio series – brings out the design masterfully.‎ Each curved section is cut separately by hand and – redolent of Hoffmann's legendary CLUB 1910 armchair – with individually stitched piping over gently cambered foam welt cord.‎ This creates a unique sculptural look for the leather version.‎ The poufs, as well as the Adagio benches, are upholstered with precisely executed quilting.‎ It almost goes without saying that they also feature pocket springs and a carefully composed cold foam structure.‎ Adagio once again attests to the exceptional craftsmanship that Wittmann has been cultivating and perfecting for many decades.‎
