BALLOTON Blown glass table lamp and fabric lampshade

Balloton is a table lamp in hand-blown glass with the traditional balloton processing with a metal mold, for a cross relief effect.‎The latest re-edition features bright new elements, complex shapes and different uses.‎ But it stays true to the Balloton technique, which lends a unique texture – pleasant to the eye and to the touch – to the glass surface: a rhomboid pattern etched with metal by the master glassblowers.‎ The Balloton Lamp is available as a pendant light, a wall light and a table lamp.‎

It seems soft, yet it is glass.‎ This signature VENINI optical illusion is called Balloton: a unique process that recreates a quilted effect in glass.‎ The “balloton” forming process is one of the most fascinating in the art of Murano glass making.‎ In the most important phase of the process, the master glass maker has to blow the hot glass inside a special, thick metal mould before it solidifies.‎ The mould creates the rhomboid shapes on the outer surface.‎
