Dynamic arrangements

An industrial style low table marks the Cassina debut of Dutch designer Linde Freya Tangelder. A functional piece designed for contemporary decor, thanks to its minimalist lines and sculptural look.

Soft Corners is a collection of architectural pieces that can be combined in different ways to create dynamic arrangements suited to any setting. To complement the upholstered pieces, Dutch designer Linde Freya Tangelder has designed an industrial style coffee table with clean lines and a sculptural look. Made of stainless steel, it is composed of three pieces, assembled through an intricate, very precise process that hides the connections from view. It echoes the same curved design of the ottomans but with a captivating interplay of positive and negative spaces. The open, functional lines of this piece can be adapted to different interpretations of use ‒ in addition to providing a table-top surface, magazines or objects can be placed inside it. In an eloquent juxtaposition of warm and cold materials, the coffee table coordinates with the upholstered pieces in terms of functionality and style and is designed to overlap one of the three ottomans.
Soft Corners is a product of the experimental work of Linde Freya Tangelder during her IN Residence experience in Turin, Italy. Thanks to the cultural support of Cassina, consistently committed to promoting shows and cultural initiatives, the designer had the opportunity to investigate the relationship between limited-edition collection design and larger-scale furniture production, and to craft a project perfectly balanced between the two. Revisiting a practice that was the true driver of Italian art during the Renaissance period, the Cassina Research and Development Centre – through this partnership – launched the Patronage project with the aim of pursuing innovative ideas and exploring new materials and production processes while supporting young talent. A commitment to innovation and excellence, in keeping with the Cassina DNA.

Composed of three pieces that echo the same curved lines of the upholstered elements but with an interesting interplay of negative and positive spaces, the coffee table can overlay one of the three ottomans in an eloquent juxtaposition of warm and cold materials.
