What is a shelf supposed to do but carry? Books, objects, memories.‎ This is exactly what Marcel Breuer designed the S44 for.‎ The four height-adjustable shelves are supported by a pair of chrome-plated tubular steel rods, their feet swinging outwards with wide legs.‎ Simple and clear.‎ Above all, their construction is immediately comprehensible.‎ The shelves can be adjusted to different heights by means of lockable shelf supports; optionally, there is an additional shelf in ash or oak veneer and top-coated, as well as chrome bookends.‎

What Marcel Breuer developed in 1932 for the House of Clarté in Geneva is a declaration of love for the things in life that surround us and find their place here.‎ The 140-centimetre-wide and just 121-centimetre-high shelf is ideal for office landscapes that do not want to burden themselves with heavy room dividers, but instead confidently incorporate light and air as design elements.‎ The simple, well thought-out appearance is a consequence of just such thinking.‎

The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin only approves true-to-work and licensed reeditions of the original Bauhaus models.‎ These are marked with Oskar Schlemmer’s signet, which he designed for the Weimar State Bauhaus in 1922.‎ Even today, Tecta's Bauhaus models are based exactly on the proportions of the originals.‎
