Nine drawers, stacked and alternating black and white. S43 is a lively, a sympathetic design by the Bauhaus master. The chest of drawers should remain mobile, so it stands on castors and can be pushed into position with two handles on the side. Anyone who sees the S43 chest of drawers next to its little sister S41 will immediately recognise its family ties. Here, Marcel Breuer has created a homage to the great high-rise buildings of the modern era, which took up floor after floor of functions and, in a sense, shot up endlessly.
The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin only approves true-to-work and licensed reeditions of the original Bauhaus models. These are marked with Oskar Schlemmer’s signet, which he designed for the Weimar State Bauhaus in 1922. Even today, Tecta's Bauhaus models are based exactly on the proportions of the originals.
