수집: Eugeni Quitllet

Eugeni Quitllet is a Spanish designer born in Ibiza in 1972. He initially studied design at the art school there before moving to Barcelona, where he graduated from the Llotja School of Art in 1996, specialising in Design and Interior Design. He began his professional career in the Catalan capital collaborating with architecture and design studios and working for such cultural institutions as the Joan Mirò Foundation. In 2001, he met Philippe Starck, with whom he began a fruitful collaboration that led to a series of successful projects, including the Masters chair produced by Kartell, which received the Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum (2010) and the Red Dot Design Award (2013). Starck & Quitllet also designed the Home/Gym/Office collection (2009) and the floor-standing coat stand To'taime (created in 2011 for Alias).

Quitllet is distinguished by his visionary approach, a lover of technology and innovation. His projects range from architecture to interior design, everyday objects and naval and space engineering, oscillating between reality and fiction without ever disrupting the balance between form and function, industrial production and the crafts dimension. His intense collaboration with Vondom led to a series of products, including the following: Love chairs (Red Dot award in 2020); Bum Bum sofas, armchairs, footstools and coffee table; Ibiza sun loungers, armchairs and garden chairs (Green Good Design award in 2020); Wall Street sled chairs; Brooklyn chairs and stools; and Bloom vases and lamps. For Roche Bobois, he designed the Pulp furniture line consisting of a dining table, armchair and chairs. With Desalto, he created the Strong furniture family, which includes steel cantilever and sled chairs, a high garden table, a round table, and high and low stools. In 2019, he received the ADA Archiproducts Design Award for the Strong High stool.

In 2016, Quitllet was elected Designer of the Year by Maison & Objet in Paris. He received two Honorable Mentions at the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award - in 2014 for the Elle chair by Alias and in 2020 for the Satellight lamp by Foscarini. In 2019, he designed GalaXsea, a Space Orbital Hotel in the shape of a 3D printed boat, one kilometre in length designed to accommodate 15,000 passengers with botanical gardens, theatres, ballrooms, swimming pools - a futuristic project testifying to the imaginative and creative power of Eugeni Quitllet.
