Collection: Gordon Guillaumier

Hailing from Malta, Gordon Guillaumier (born in 1966) studied in Switzerland and England before obtaining a diploma in Industrial Design from IED Milan in 1991. The following year, he got his Masters in the same discipline from Domus Academy. Guillaumier's first professional experience dated to the early 1990s when he worked for Baleri Associati and Rodolfo Dordoni. He then joined the team to coordinate Driade's artistic strategy alongside Enrico Astori, focusing on the Atlantide and Dhouse collections. His style of elegant, minimalist, discreet pure lines and soft geometries emerged in his very first works.

Ten years after graduating in 2002, he opened an office in Milan, undertaking collaborations with numerous Italian and international brands such as Driade, Dornbracht Interiors, Rational, Roda, Pamar, Bosa, Pandora, Paola C e De Vecchi, Arketipo, CasaMilano, Desalto, De Sede, Fontana Arte, Frag, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, Matteo Grassi, Montina, Minotti, Moroso, Lema, Roda, Tacchini, Varaschin, Nobili Rubinetterie, Azzurra Ceramiche, Kronos Ceramiche and Ceramiche Piemme. His collaboration with Roda, where he is on the art direction team led by Dordoni, has been particularly fruitful. Starting in 2018, as art director of Desalto, he has explored the creative and structural possibilities of metal, designing such projects as the large Lake ceramics and steel table, the Iblea marble and steel table, and the Fourmore wood and steel table. He investigates the world of outdoor furniture in all forms with Roda, with designs ranging from lighting (Pillow lamp) to tables such as Aspic, armchairs (Laze), and deckchairs (Orson).

Gordon Guillaumier has received many design awards, among which: the 2011 Interzum Award for the Loop handle by Pamar; the 2014 Wallpaper Design Award for the Orson lounger by Roda; the 2016 ADI XXIV Compasso d'Oro for the Brick table by Roda; the 2016 ADI Design Ceramic Award for the Bits & Pieces collection for Ceramiche Piemme; the 2016 Archiproducts Design Award for the Chill Out desk system by Tacchini; the 2018 Archiproducts Design Award for the Lake table by Desalto; the 2019 NYCxDESIGN Awards for Laze seating by Roda; the 2019 NYCxDESIGN Awards for the Shades ceramic series by Ceramiche Piemme. Gullauimer also works in interior design, focusing mainly on residential projects for private clients and restaurants. Many of his projects have appeared in prestigious international magazines. He has lectured at the School of Industrial Design at the Milan Polytechnic and is visiting professor of design at Abadir Design Academy in Catania.
