Collection: Jozeph Forakis

Jozeph Forakis was born in New York. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. After moving to Milan he gained a Master Degree in Industrial Design at Domus Academy. From 1993 to 1997 he was Design Manager of Domus Academy Research Center. In 1995 he was Consulting Design Director for Swatch Irony where he developed new product line and the iconic Swatch IRONY Scuba 200, Swatch IRONY AquaChrono and Swatch TALK the world’s first watch-mobile phone.

In 1999 he was European Design Director for Motorola as responsible for new design-language strategies, new Product Design & Development and Advanced Concept Research, moreover he led the design team responsible for the revolutionary V.70 mobile phone. In 2002 he founded jozeph forakis … design studio in Milan, working with well-known design brands as Samsung, LG Yamaha Motors, Epson, Swatch, Swarovski, Magis and many others. His work is recognised for its innovative use of materials and production techniques, as well as its interest in the influence of digital technologies in products.

His work was presented in a solo exhibition by the Italian Design Association, and featured in museums and galleries around the world, including the MoMa exhibitions “mutant materials in contemporary design” and “workspheres”.
