Collection: Christophe Pillet

Christophe Pillet was born in 1959 in Montargis, France. He graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Nice in 1985, and the following year, he obtained a master's degree from Domus Academy in Milan. He initially collaborated with Martine Bedin and Michele De Lucchi in the Memphis group and then with Philippe Starck from 1988 to 1993. In 1994, he opened an office in Paris. He was immediately designated "Créateur de l'année" at the Salon du Meuble de Paris. This was the first in a long series of prestigious accolades he received from the world over. His works have been exhibited in numerous museums like the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and Lucerne's Museum of Decorative Arts. Formal sobriety, quality craftsmanship and stylistic elegance are the distinguishing features of Pinnet's work. His approach translates into different scales from architecture to set design, interior decoration and product design. His work includes the design of the Lancel boutiques in France and globally, the Hotel Sezz in St Tropez, the Hotel Sahrai and the Maison Blanche restaurant in Fez, and Renault booths at many international car shows.

Design director for Lacoste, he regularly collaborates with other important brands. He designed the Sunset armchair and the High Time sofa and tables for Cappellini; the Echoes S.H. chair series and Any Day line of stools, desks and furniture for Flexform; the Meridiana family of furniture with a round table, stool and swivel chair for Driade. His collaboration with Emu was fruitful, resulting in the Round line of chairs, tables, armchairs, stools, sunshades and sunbeds. He created Niwa hanging lamps, Plume table lamps, Berlin wall and ceiling lamps for Oluce, and numerous products including tables, sofas, and sideboards for Lema starting in 2013. For Tacchini, he designed the South Beach chair (2006), the Mayfair collection of armchairs and chairs (2008) and the Memory Lane chair (2018). For Kartell, he created the Shibuya vases where plastic becomes as precious as blown Murano glass.

The presence of the fashion world is a constant for Pinnet, who collaborates with such designers as Catherine Malandrino and Jean Claude Jitrois. His international awards include the Red Dot Design Award, the Wallpaper Design Award and the Prix d'Excellence at Salon International du Luminaire. In 2019, he received the Silmo d'Or Awards and the German Design Award, and in 2021, he won the ADA Archiproducts Design Awards for the Lyon Armchair produced by Enne.
