Collection: Rémi Bouhaniche

After obtaining his technical degree in product design from Marseille, France, Rémi Bouhaniche joined the Fine Arts School of Saint Etienne in 2004, from where he developed his personal process of creation which sharpens his approach towards shapes and materials. Between 2007 and 2008, he completed one course semester in furniture design at Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, India. After returning to France he worked as a stage manager with the “Cité du Design” team, John Tackara, curator and Gael Gabillet / EXYST-stage designers, for the exhibition – CITY ECO LAB organized during theInternational Biennial of Design, Saint Etienne in 2008.

With a stronginclination towards design based on senses and gestures, he designed the lamp‘Etirement’ in 2009 which was the main piece of his graduation thesis named “Lamécanique des surfaces”. In January of the following year, ‘Etirement’ won the 1st prize at the D3 Contest at IMM,Cologne, Germany. During this period he started working together with Amaury Poudray, with whom he collaborated for the graduation ceremony Institut PaulBocuse stage design. After obtaining his DNSEP- A Masters degree in Art and Design, together, they created the label USIN-e, which reflects their ambition of proposing a vision with a strong commitment.

They started working from there with The Granville Gallery, The Gallery, Brussels and AD ‘Association de Designeurs’. In October 2010, the bench ‘Tressage’ from his master thesis was selected to be auctionned at ‘La Maison Damien Leclerc’ at Marseille. They recently exhibited at Maison&Objet Paris in January 2011. Since January 2010 he has been working with Amaury Poudray as a professor with the students of ‘Insitut Paul Bocuse’ to help them in setting up innovative restaurants.
